| The Bea Palls Diversity Educator Award has been established
by the Executive Board of the Sanibel Leadership Association, Inc. in
honor of the Association's co-founder and president Beatrice K. Palls.
Bea has committed her career to building a community of educators who
value English Language Learners, their families, and the educators who
serve them. Nominees must be a Florida Prekindergarten-Grade 12 educator OR Florida college/university classroom instructor who -develops a school wide culture
that addresses the needs of ELLs,
-builds capacity in colleagues and administrators to drive the success of ELLs, and -promotes a culture for the inclusion of ELL families. An individual wishing to make a nomination must complete this form online. Self-nominations are not accepted. After providing contact information for yourself and your nominee, you will be asked to input a written response of the nominee's qualities in relation to the nomination criteria. All nominations will be reviewed and the recipient announced at the next annual conference. Recipients receive an award of $250 to recognize their dedication to ELL education in Florida. The inaugural year's award is generously sponsored by Badía and Associates. We are grateful for their kind support! |

FABES - the Florida Association of Bilingual and ESOL Supervisors - is a separate organization from the Sanibel Leadership Conference. The first full day of the conference is provided to FABES for their summer meeting. This requires separate membership in the FABES organization. Please contact the FABES treasurer for a membership application. You may pay this on-site at the Sanibel Leadership Conference. Attendees MUST pay BOTH Sanibel Leadership Conference registration AND membership in FABES. There is no "FABES Meeting Only" registration at the summer session. FABES membership cannot be paid through the Sanibel Leadership Conference registration site. For more information, please contact Minnie Cardona at minnie_cardona@scps.k12.fl.us. |
